EVENT DETAILS
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Judith Stenneken is an artist working in photography, video and installation. She studied photography at Ostkreuzschule in Berlin and holds an MFA in Photo, Video and Related Media from SVA. Amongst others her first self-published photo book “Last Call” won Blurb’s Photography Book Now Award in 2010. Since 2016 Judith is represented by Galerie f5,6 in Munich. An excerpt of her still and moving image works will be shown during this event.
PROJECT STATEMENT
I use metaphors of the journey, the voyager and transitory spaces (like hotel rooms, airplanes, etc.) to describe transitions as the sole constant in life and in betweenness as a state of being. The concepts of departure and arrival dissolve as the traveler keeps moving – a gravity towards constant change. The voyager’s home becomes the hotel room and the airplane. Spaces to pause but never to dwell.
